Veintiocho minutos después, el jefe de Estado había sido capturado dentro de su propio cuartel general, y la noticia la dio el presidente de otro país, en otro idioma, en su red social privada. Ocho meses más tarde, autoridades sin mandato electoral verificable firmaron concesiones de cien años sobre 17 campos y 65.000 millones de barriles.
Territorio, No República sostiene que Venezuela ha sido reclasificada, en la práctica, de república a territorio, y lo documenta paso a paso: la república que existió (1914–2024) y cómo se vació con votos; los veintiocho minutos y la sentencia 0001; la tutela; el acuerdo petrolero, la ley de hidrocarburos que nadie ha visto completa y las cuentas; y el hemisferio, de Monroe al Corolario Trump y el Escudo de las Américas, con Bolivia, Guyana, Panamá y Canadá en el mismo mapa. Cierra con instrumentos concretos: cinco preguntas que cualquier redacción puede formular, una declaración anticipada de ratificación y cláusulas mínimas para contratos sobre recursos estratégicos.
Está escrito desde adentro del momento, sin conocer el desenlace, con notas y fuentes capítulo por capítulo. Su tesis cabe en dos frases que sostiene a la vez: Maduro era un tirano. Y Venezuela no es un territorio.
At 1:55 in the morning of 3 January 2026, seven explosions woke Caracas. Twenty-eight minutes later the head of state had been captured inside his own headquarters, and the news was broken by the president of another country, in another language, on his private social network. Eight months later, authorities with no verifiable electoral mandate signed hundred-year concessions over 17 oil fields and 65 billion barrels.
Territory, Not a Republic argues that Venezuela has been reclassified, operationally, from republic to territory, and documents it step by step: the republic that existed (1914–2024) and how it was hollowed out with votes; the twenty-eight minutes and Ruling 0001; the tutelage; the oil agreement, the hydrocarbons law nobody has seen in full, and the accounts; and the hemisphere, from Monroe to the Trump Corollary and the Shield of the Americas, with Bolivia, Guyana, Panama and Canada on the same map. It closes with concrete instruments: five questions any newsroom can put, an advance declaration of ratification, and minimum clauses for contracts over strategic resources.
It was written from inside the moment, without knowing the outcome, with notes and sources chapter by chapter. Its thesis fits in two sentences held at once: Maduro was a tyrant. And Venezuela is not a territory.
El autor
The author
Gabriel E. Ordoñez es ingeniero electricista venezolano. Creció en Maracaibo, cerca de la geodesia, el oficio de levantar registros del territorio, y vive en Ottawa, Canadá. Forma parte de los ocho millones de venezolanos que dejaron el país. Territorio, No República es su primer libro, publicado simultáneamente en español e inglés. Concede entrevistas por escrito en ambos idiomas y respuestas grabadas en audio a petición.
Gabriel E. Ordoñez is a Venezuelan electrical engineer. He grew up in Maracaibo, close to geodesy, the trade of building records of territory, and lives in Ottawa, Canada. He is one of the eight million Venezuelans who left the country. Territory, Not a Republic is his first book, published simultaneously in Spanish and English. He gives written interviews in both languages and recorded audio answers on request.
